On Saturday, while arriving at the BJP state headquarters in Agartala to attend an important organisational meeting, the Chief Minister responded to questions from journalists and said that he had read about the Khayerpur and kamalpur incident in the newspapers.
Speaking to the journalists, CM said,“The incident in Khayerpur cannot be accepted under any circumstances. If it has actually happened, there should be a proper investigation and action should be taken according to the law."
He also expressed concern over the incident in Kamalpur, stating that it was equally undesirable. However, he said that he did not yet have complete details of the incident. He added that he would speak to the concerned persons after the meeting to gather further information.
Clarifying the party's position, the Chief Minister said that if anyone from his party was involved in such incidents, they would not be spared under any circumstances.
In particular, allegations have surfaced that CPI(M) candidates are unable to submit their nomination papers because miscreants have surrounded the office of the Returning Officer in Ramnagar.
The Chief Minister responded that the opposition could make allegations, but the BJP had repeatedly instructed its members to ensure that nobody was obstructed from filing nomination papers.
In the meantime, an important organisational meeting of the BJP was held at the party's state headquarters in the presence of the Chief Minister on Saturday. The meeting was organised at the initiative of the new state in-charge and in accordance with the suggestions of the central leadership to maintain regular coordination among party office-bearers.
