Udaipur, Oct 27 2026: Residents of Udaipur, one of Tripura’s key towns, are facing severe distress due to the lack of open pharmacies after 10:00 PM. In emergencies, locals—including those suffering from sudden fever, pain, or seasonal ailments—are forced to travel 5 to 6 kilometers to the Tepania District Hospital to buy essential medicines.

While night-shift pharmacies typically operate near major healthcare facilities, the Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital remains an exception, with nearby medicine shops closing around 8:30 PM. As a result, patients relying on this hospital are left with no choice but to incur extra transportation expenses late at night to reach Tepania.

Locals have expressed deep dissatisfaction over the situation, noting that this inconvenience undermines the state government's ongoing efforts to improve healthcare accessibility.

With Chief Minister and Health Minister Dr. Manik Saha scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the new building of Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital tomorrow, the residents of Udaipur have urged him to take immediate steps to ensure at least one 24/7 pharmacy operates near the hospital premises.
