Police initially intercepted the truck at Narimangal after finding its movement suspicious. The vehicle was subsequently brought to the police station, where a search operation was conducted at night. During the search, a large quantity of sarees was recovered from inside the truck.
According to reports, the sarees were allegedly being transported for smuggling into Bangladesh. The consignment is reportedly linked to a Sonamura-based businessman named Uttam Saha.
Local residents appreciated the police action. However, the seizure has created a stir in Bishalgarh, particularly ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.
