Kailashahar, October 28: The Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha of the BJP’s Unakoti district committee held an organisational meeting at the party’s district office in Paiturbazar, Kailashahar, on Wednesday, bringing together leaders and workers from across the district.
The meeting was attended by SC Morcha district president Dulal Krishna Das, BJP district president Bimal Kar, senior BJP leader Himangshu Das, state SC Morcha secretary Bappa Das, state committee member Kartik Das and presidents of the SC Morcha’s five mandals, along with other district committee members.
According to Dulal Krishna Das, the meeting was organised after the formation of the district committee ahead of Durga Puja, as no organisational meeting had been held since then. He said the party had begun preparations in anticipation of the municipal elections, which are expected to be announced soon.
Unakoti district has two municipal councils, and the SC Morcha aims to contribute to the BJP’s performance in both, Das said. He also indicated that Scheduled Caste candidates would be given due importance in the electoral process.
The meeting also witnessed the participation of a significant number of veteran party workers alongside younger members. Das said the SC Morcha would remain active not only during the upcoming municipal elections but also in the 2028 Tripura Assembly elections.
The meeting marks an early organisational push by the BJP’s SC Morcha in Unakoti ahead of the anticipated civic polls.
