According to the press release, Shri Silash Tamang was selected for the prestigious medal under the Investigation category. The Hon'ble Governor congratulated him during the meeting and appreciated his outstanding service, dedication, and integrity.
The Governor stated that the achievement is a matter of pride for both the Sikkim Police and the entire state, noting in a quote: "This esteemed recognition honours his exceptional dedication, compassion and service. His achievement is a moment of great pride for Sikkim and an inspiration to many."
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has recently announced a total of 490 police officers and personnel from states, Union Territories, Central Armed Police Forces, and Central Police Organisations for the 2026 medal. They were recognized for their contributions to policing, security, investigation, and forensic science.
