AGARTALA, Nov 3: The youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), held a torch rally through the streets of Agartala on Tuesday evening, around 6:30 pm, ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. The rally attacked the alliance between the Left Front and the Congress.

The rally was joined by state minister Tinku Roy and BJYM office-bearers at various levels, along with workers and supporters. Speakers targeted Congress leadership, naming Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, and criticised the role of the previous Left Front government.

Roy told reporters that the CPI(M) and Congress were spreading falsehoods across the country, including on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. “The people of Tripura will not accept these lies and this misinformation, and they will condemn them,” he said. “We want peace, harmony and development, and a developed Tripura. That is why BJYM workers have come out on the streets today.”

The organisers said the rally was meant to show the party’s organisational strength and to make its political position clear before the civic polls. The rally covered the main roads of the city.
