The meeting was attended by H C Chaudhary, IFS, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor, and Paiem Laborious Manik S. Syiem, Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya State Branch. According to the press communiqué, the business session covered four agenda items, which included confirming the minutes of the earlier meeting held on December 3, 2025, adopting the annual and audited financial reports for 2025–2026, and reviewing a proposal for a new building.
In his speech, the Governor commended the organisation for its humanitarian efforts to alleviate human suffering. He encouraged the branch to expand its outreach and recruit more volunteers, particularly youth, while stressing the need for collective action against teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and the ecological impacts of monoculture.
The release added that the Governor backed the proposal for a new building, noting that an equipped facility would provide an institutional base to strengthen administrative duties, run training programmes, and respond to emergencies. He called on stakeholders to cooperate in completing the project.
This is according to a press communiqué issued by the Governor's Secretariat, Meghalaya, on October 27, 2026.
