Bishalgarh, Oct 30: The Tripura government has launched a free distribution programme for essential food items through ration shops across the state to provide relief to consumers amid rising market prices.
Under the initiative, eligible beneficiaries are being provided with 1 kg of sugar, 2 kg of flour and 500 grams of semolina free of cost.
Nayan Das, SDC of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department at the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, said the distribution was being carried out through ration shops across Tripura.
The initiative is expected to offer some relief to household budgets, particularly for families facing the pressure of rising prices of essential commodities. Consumers have welcomed the move.
