Udaipur, October 28: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha inaugurated three major healthcare projects at Gomati District Hospital and Udaipur Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital on Wednesday. He also performed a bhoomi pujan to mark the commencement of construction work on one of the projects at the sub-divisional hospital.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy attended the programme, along with Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Deb Roy, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, district officials and representatives of the Health Department.
Addressing the gathering, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy highlighted the history of the two hospitals and alleged that the previous government had attempted to shut down Udaipur Tripura Sundari Sub-Divisional Hospital. He also criticised the earlier government’s handling of Gomati District Hospital, alleging that it was inaugurated hastily before an election without adequate attention to infrastructure and hygiene.
Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the state’s development initiatives and said Udaipur had the potential to emerge as one of Tripura’s major cities. He also referred to the ongoing construction of the 51 Pithas project near Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, expressing hope that it would further strengthen the city’s religious, cultural and tourism significance.
The three healthcare projects are expected to improve medical infrastructure and expand access to healthcare for residents of Gomati district and surrounding areas.
