According to the press communiqué, the Governor noted that the campaign is observed from 20 October to 8 November 2026 and is supported by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change through WWF-India’s Programme Centre–Resource Partner.
The press release stated that the initiative aligns with the spirit of Mission LiFE, encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable lifestyles. The Governor advised families and youth to use traditional lamps, share sweets, support local artisans, and engage in community celebrations.
The Governor highlighted that excessive firecracker use can negatively impact children, senior citizens, people with respiratory sensitivities, animals, and birds, while also causing air and noise pollution.
The Governor appealed to educational institutions, community organizations, and local bodies to raise awareness about green celebrations, expressing confidence that the state's residents will lead by example.
This is according to a press communiqué issued by the PRO to the Governor in Itanagar on October 29, 2026.
